With winter harvest festivals like Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Pongal we welcome the new year across the country, and to help us stay close, Snapchat has launched celebratory AR lenses. These exciting new lenses will help us welcome the warmth of the Lohri bonfire, the joy of Makar Sankranti, and the vibrance of Pongal.
Celebrated on Jan. 14, these festivals are celebrated to welcome the spring season and the new harvest. All of these festivals offer a great opportunity to interact with family and friends.
Lohri is celebrated in northern India and commemorates the passing of the winter solstice. Snapchat has developed the Happy Lohri lens to help users showcase their festive spirit and spread the joy that showcases the bonfire and its flames that signify the onset of the new season.

Pongal is predominantly celebrated in Tamil Nadu, and almost all throughout South India. Dedicated to the sun god, it is a four-day harvest festival. To help Pongal celebrators share the warmth of this festival, Snapchat has developed the Happy Pongal lens that, in a traditional style, that showcases the marigold floral arrangement reminiscent of Pongal celebrations.

Makar Sankranti or the festival of kite flying is dedicated to God Surya and celebrated across India to welcome the new harvesting season. Snapchat has also developed a Makar Sakranti lens to help users celebrate this auspicious day and add happiness to the lives of their loved ones.
