Kauvery Hospital Hosts 6,500 Participa nts in the K10K Cancer Awareness Run
An Initiative to Promote Early Cancer D etection and Prevention
Chennai, 2nd February 2025: In a remar kable show of community support for ca ncer awareness, over 6,500 participants took part in the K10K Cancer Awarenes ess Run organized by Kauvery Hospital on Sunday, ahead of World Cancer Day on February 4th. The event took place a t the Olcott Memorial Higher Secondary School in Besant Nagar, Chennai, and ai med to highlight the importance of early detection and prevention of cancer.
The run offered two categories: a 10 km run and a 5 km run, attracting a wide ran ge of individuals, including fitness enthu siasts, professional athletes, families, st udents, and corporate professionals. Thi s impressive turnout reflects the increas ing concern for cancer awareness and e mphasizes the life-saving significance of regular screenings and early detection.
Dr A N Vaidhyswaran, Director of Radia tion Oncology at Kauvery Hospital Alwa rpet, emphasized the significance of earl y detection, stating, stating that cancer i s a leading cause of death worldwide. W ith advancements of treatment availabl ble in all specialties in oncology at Kauv ery Cancer Institute it is possible to trea t cancers and also can get better cure if detected early. The 10 km run included a variety of age categories welcoming participants of all fitness levels, showcasing winners from both men and women.
