Triumph Over Sarcoma: Over 200 parti cipants pedal the 3rd Edition of ‘Winn ers on Wheels’ Cyclothon
The 5-km cyclothon re-ignites hope an d raises awareness on Sarcoma
Chennai, August 03, 2024: In a power f ul display of solidarity and support, Ap ollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), Apo llo Cancer Centres (ACC) and Apollo S hine hosted the third edition of the Wi nners on Wheels Cyclothon. . The event was aimed at raising awareness about sarcoma and inspire hope for im proved quality of life after treatment. Sarcoma, a rare and often misunders tood cancer, predominantly affects children. By bring ing cancer survivors, healthcare profes sionals and cycling enthusiasts together, the Cyclothon ce lebrated the indomita ble human spirit and highlighted the imp portance of aw areness and support for sarcoma.
The event flagged-off by the Honble Th iru Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Minister for School Education, Government of T amil Nadu and Mr. Harshad Reddy, Dire ector of Group Oncology & Internation al at Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limite d (AHEL), attracted an enthusiastic crow d of over 200 participants. Amo ng them were sarcoma survivors, school student ts, doctors and medical staff, all united i n their endeavour to dispel cancer myth s and honour the unbreak able human spirit.
The Honble Thiru Anbil Mahesh Poyya mozhi, Minister for School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, while exp ressing his admiration for this social c ause initiative, commented “I applaud Apollo team for their tireless efforts in raising awareness about Sarcoma canc er through the Winners on Wheels Cyc lothon. The 3rd edition, which comprised a 5-k km Cyclothon, was flagged-off at APCC to spread the powerful message that “T here is Life Beyond Cancer” and the re is no challenge that can deter canceer war riors from achieving their goals. The ins piring event showcased sarcom a surviv ors leading the charge, symbol izing the unwavering strength and det erminacti on of those battling cancer.

Witnessing the determination and resilience of the cancer survivors and the enthusiasm of the young parti cipants was truly inspiring. We are on wheels busting myths and showcasi ng that life beyond cancer is possible. We are not just raising awareness, but also nurturing a sense of togetherness and empowerment.
The Cyclothon commenced early in the morning with participants embarking on a scenic route that symbolized their jour ney of overcoming cancer. The event wa s filled with energy and a sense of comm unity, underscoring the messa ge that to gether we can conquer cancer.
The ‘Winners on Wheels’ Cyclothon con cluded with a ceremony honouring t he sarcoma winners, who were celebra ted not just for their participation but also f or their relentless fight against c ancer.
