Story-;
In Ramanathapura district Enathi village, two friends, Chandra Bose (Lord) and Chitravel (Prince) from different sects are protecting the village from caste conflict. Like them, Senguttuvan (Shantanu) and the prince’s son Mat himaran (Sanjay Saravanan) who belong to Prabhu are friends as partners. Local MLA (Aruldas) and Minister Ras akannu (PL Thenappan) want to divide the town for their political gains by giving permission to the corporate co mpany to exploit the mineral wealth of the parched land. For this, Senguttuvan- Indra (Anandhi) put love at dice and divide the town that was once together. The quiet town raises the scythe. What happens next is the story.
Director Vikram Sukumaran has tried to convey the politics of profit behind caste riots and the ignorant nature of innocent people who easily fall into it without knowing its intricacies. He has also talked about the political is sues behind the eradication of oak trees and has bravely sounded the alarm bell about the future of the district. The aim he took was great, but if he had said it more properly, he might have been applauded. The first half mov es with the usual scenes, the second half disappoints with expectations. Caste, water scarcity, corporate, misun derstood love, the screenplay eventually veers here and there and gives a shocker. The big downside is that the shock didn’t have any impact.

Ramanathapuram district, which is mostly seen as a dry district, has emerged due to water scarcity, oak trees an d political and caste issues. Although it is an old story to listen to, has Ravana Kottam, which has come to tell the se issues through a new plot, attracted the fans..? Prabhu from the upper street and Prince from the lower stree t, which is the main pillar of the village called Enathi in Ramanathapuram, have been close friends and are used t o living together in their village without caste division. Politician Aruldas who does not like this, along with minis ter PL Thenappan, incites the people from the lower street and tries to create trouble and divide between the tw o communities.
For that, they use the love of the heroine Anandhi as a pawn to create division and create riots in the town. Shant anu from Upper Street and Sanjay Saravanan from Lower Street, who are very close friends, get separated due t o the machinations of these politicians. The rest of the story of the movie Ravana Kottam is how Shantanu fights and wins as an individual against the politicians who use this to create division. In the film, water scarcity is ramp ant in small villages around Enadi in Ramanathapuram district. In addition, the Melet Street and other caste peo pleliving in the street are living together as partners.
Their two community leaders, Prabhu and Prince, are living as an example of friendship. Among them, a corpora te company is exploiting the natural resources of the village. – Advertisement – Politicians also benefit from this. They want to establish their corporate company by creating a riot between the two communities. Meanwhile, Sh antanu-Anandi’s love turns dice. The Lord and Prince act upon the threat of the Cypress Oak tree, which is the ro ot cause of the water shortage. But they kill both of them. What happens next? A riot broke out between the peo ple of the two villages? Is a corporate company incorporated?
What happened to Shantanu-Anandhi’s love? That is the rest of the story of the film. There is no shortage of cas te conflicts in South Tamil Nadu. They have given their reasons in various movies that which caste leads to confli cts. But if that is the only problem in the southern districts, then director Vikram Sukumaran points out in this fi lm that it is not – there is another big villain. The story takes place in Ramanathapura village, a drought district of Tamil Nadu. A noble belonging to a caste is working hard to ensure that there is no conflict between the two cast es there. His lifelong friend Prince belongs to another caste.
These two castes, known as Mela Vedhitinar and Gielavedinar, though the names are not specifically mentioned, can be understood symbolically. Prabhu, the prince’s companion, Shantanu, the prince’s cousin, and the prince’s s on act as the two hands of the lord who protect the town as incomparable companions. But there needs to be a f orce to divide the town, and the town MLA Arul Das is coming as that force. It is said that Prabhu also made him an MLA by using his influence to contest the elections as an independent. But the lust for office makes him negle ct the good of the town and collude with the ruling party to do unsavory jobs.
However, Prabhu is looking for an opportunity to go without his politics in the villages where Prabhu is influenti al. In this case, Shantanu’s daughter-in-law Anandi comes to the town with her mother for the village festival. Fi ve years ago, Shantanu and Anandi were in love and Anandi’s mother, who did not like it, comes to the festival to leave the town, saying that everyone will have forgotten the old thing now. The rest of the story is what Aruldas did by using that love as a dice and creating enmity between the comrades who were united. Though Shantanu is the hero of the story, it is comforting that he doesn’t have any opening and build-up sequences befitting a comm ercial hero.
He has also acted as a hero who carries the story without expecting all that. Everyone knows that he is a great da ncer – but that doesn’t work much in this film. Instead there are more action scenes. Aggressive fighting, flamboy ant romance and emotional acting, he effortlessly carries his role. This film will give him a big name in acting as h e shows great emotions when his friend changes his path. Anandi appears throughout the film but has nothing t o do but love Shantanu. Anandi, who gives an excellent performance in any role, has little work to do in this film. Yet that innocent face overflows with love. Prabhu comes to the town like a guardian deity.
Prabhu shines in the fact that he treats the prince as half of his life and treats his son as his own child, not just in name. When he says “I will save this town even with my life…” in three places we can guess what his decision will be. It can be avoided. Illasaru, who plays the role of the noble’s confidant, impresses with his mesmerizing perfor mance. The young man who almost plays the secondary role of his son has also acted brilliantly. The first half of his innocent performance, which looks like ‘Southern Akshay Kumar’, and the second half, where he listens to th e audience and becomes a villain, is good.
Deepa Shankar, who plays Shantanu’s older sister, and Sujatha Sivakumar, who plays Anandi’s mother, are recog nizable as normal village mothers. Especially Sujata… who suddenly turns into a civilized mummy and plays the p iano and English. PL Thenappan, who becomes a minister, is villainous as usual. Arul Das too. But it must be said t hat the similar-handed actor, who masterminds Aruldas’s satikara chess, scores beautifully. Vetrivel Mahendra n ‘s cinematography and Justin Prabhakaran’s music have lifted the quality of the film. Director Vikram Sukumara n has emphasized that the politicians are the puppets of one caste and the other caste are enemies, and the corp orate companies are the forces that control them.
In reality, he has recorded the legal problems of the oak tree eradication project which has been dragging on for many years. Although the story he came to tell ends somewhere, the film ends with warnings about the future of southern districts like Ramanathapuram. No one can expect that this story, which starts as a commercial fantasy and travels like that, will end with the current state of the country.
