24-year-old Taiwanese Student wins the title of ‘World’s Best Coder’ at TCS Cod eVita 2025
In its 12th edition, the global coding co mpetition attracted a record number o f registrations from over 537K students a cross 96 countries
‘Top Woman Coder’ title won by Ankith a Varma from India and ‘Top Emerging C oder’ title was won by Zhou Jingkai fro m People’s Republic of China
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 5 32540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT s ervices, consulting, and business solutio ns announced the winners of its global c oding contest CodeVita at a grand finale held at the TCS Siruseri campus in Chen nnai. Jeffrey Ho, 24, from Taiwan took h ome the winning title at the competition that holds the Guiness World RecordTM as the world’s largest computer progra ming competition.
Building on the theme ‘United by Code’, this season of CodeVita brought togeth er the brightest minds in programming, pushing the boundaries of coding excell ence. In its 12th edition, the competitioi on attracted over 537K registrations th e highest ever – from across 96 countrie s.
TCS CodeVita takes a gamified approac ch to promote coding awareness among students. Over the years, hundreds of st udents have completed internships at T CS, with the top three coders each seaso son being given the opportunity to inter rn directly with the TCS Research and In novation team. CodeVita consists of thr ee rounds of coding challenges. In Roun d 1, contestants must solve at least one challenge to advance. In Round 2, they face a new set of complex problems. Ev very year, only the top 25 contestants m ake it to the final round.

The TCS Research & Innovation team ha s developed a framework that automate tes the submission, compilation, and eva aluation of contestants’ code. They also support the submission, compilation, an d evaluation of code across eight progr amming languages for CodeVita. The ch allenges are curated by experienced TC S coders in The Philacodist Club. This ye ear’s questions ranged from formula bas ed problems and algorithmic challenges to real-life applications and data structu re-related tasks.

While Jeffrey was awarded the winning cash prize of $10,000, the runners-up M artin Andrighetti, 24, and Ignacio Muno z oz, 22, from Chile were awarded $7,00 0 and $3,000 respectively. Notably, And righetti won the competition in 2024. T his season also recognized Top Woman Coder Ankitha Varma, 20, from India an d Top Emerging Coder Zhou Jingkai, 19, from People’s Republic of China.

Held on March 21 in Chennai, the grand finale brought together 25 finalists from eight countries including Spain, Chile, P eru, Ecuador, Brazil, China, Taiwan, and I ndia. Apart from the contestants, the 12 th season of TCS CodeVita was also atte nded by His Excellency Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru and Sunita Shahaney, Honorary Consul of C hile in Chennai along with TCS business leaders and academicians.
